i spent a year and a half on this project, and i am finally settled into the bus now for winter, working on fine-tuning things like shelving and making custom curtains. in its new position, it gets sun during the day (if it's out) even on winter solstice! this is especially nice since i rely on a small hillbilly solar power system for my lights and music at home. this january 2 i will be celebrating my 13th anniversary of purchasing this particular bus and turning it into a home (see "ode to a bus" posted Dec.31 2009). while i was travelling during christmas, a gigantic pine tree from my neighbor's property fell RIGHT next to the bus, barely brushing it; i was worried about where that tree was going to fall, as it would have caused unrepairable damage to my recently finished and sort of expensive (figures coming soon) project. i choose to see it as the universe giving me a big "thumbs up," and feel extraordinarily lucky at this point to have a cozy, affordable home on my own land, which is quite the beautiful spot; especially now that i can focus on my plants again. i'm looking forward to january! blessings! bbear
